چکیده

We present the results of a Monte Carlo simulation of the RP 2 model in three dimensions with negative coupling. We observe a second order phase transition between the disordered phase and an antiferromagnetic, unfrustrated, ordered one. We measure, with a Finite Size Scaling analysis, the thermal exponent, obtaining ν = 0.784(8). We have found two magnetic-type relevant operators whose related η exponents are 0.038(2) and 1.338(8) respectively.

I provide evidence that the 2D RP N −1 model for N ≥ 3 is equivalent to the O(N)-invariant non-linear σ-model in the continuum limit. To this end, I mainly study particular versions of the models, to be called constraint models. I prove that the constraint RP N −1 and O(N) models are equivalent for sufficiently weak coupling. Numerical results for the step-scaling function of the running coupli...

It is shown that a bosonic formulation of the double-exchange model, one of the classical models for magnetism, generates dynamically a gauge-invariant phase in a finite region of the phase diagram. We use analytical methods, Monte Carlo simulations and Finite-Size Scaling analysis. We study the transition line between that region and the paramagnetic phase. The numerical results show that this...

We study the antiferromagnetic RP2 model in four dimensions. We find a second order transition with two order parameters, one ferromagnetic and the other antiferromagnetic. The antiferromagnetic sector has mean-field critical exponents and a renormalized coupling which goes to zero in the continuum limit. The exponents of the ferromagnetic channel are not the mean-field ones, but the difference...

N ov 1 99 6 The Kosterlitz – Thouless Universality Class

We examine the Kosterlitz–Thouless universality class and show that essential scaling at this type of phase transition is not self– consistent unless multiplicative logarithmic corrections are included. In the case of specific heat these logarithmic corrections are identified analytically. To identify those corresponding to the susceptibility we set up a numerical method involving the finite–si...
